Short Bio

I am an Associate Professor at Michigan State University where I conduct research and teach master’s and doctoral courses in Special Education. I received a B.A. in Psychology from Penn State University, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in School Psychology from Syracuse University. Prior to coming to MSU, I was a researcher at the Florida Center for Reading Research where I directed the development of reading and writing screening and diagnostic assessments as well as state-wide professional development to use those assessments to inform differentiated instruction. Prior to that, I was a coach for district-wide positive behavior support and multi-tiered systems of support at the Devereux Center for Effective Schools.

At MSU, I co-lead the Writing/Reading Interventions & Teacher Education (WRITE) lab. I co-developed the master’s degree and certificate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and teach the survey course and the capstone course in MTSS. I mentor doctoral student research in the Special Education program and the School Psychology program.
